- I have a Motorola Lifestyle 28.8 3400 external modem (bought in
- Australia, so not sure if it's the same) running in Windows 95, and have
- experienced similar problems with scrolling garbage in the terminal
- window brought up after dialing into my ISP. In fact I have had the
- garbage characters problem with two different ISPs.
-
- I believe there are some problems in connections to certain modem brands
- at the ISP end - at least this is what I was told by the Motorola rep in
- Aus. My ISP uses Netcomm M34F 28.8 modems, and I have been given a
- couple of initialisation strings, specific to the Netcomm modems (so I
- believe) to put in the dial-up networking properties, both of which
- definitely do the trick:
-
- at&f&d3&s1&c1\q3\n7s0=0 <----this is the one I use, which
- was given to me by my ISP, and
-
- &fb0%b15 given to me by Megadyne, the Australian
- Motorola agent:
-
- Since using the first string listed above, I have never seen the
- garbage crap again - touch wood :). Hope this helps, in at least
- determining what you probably need.
